The sun is well and truly shining on AES Solar after winning third place in the Solar PV Installer and Contractor of the year award at the National Energy Efficiency Awards.
AES Solar were nominated for the award following our recent regional success where we picked up first place in the same category. It was an honour to be shortlisted for this prestigious national award and spend an evening surrounded by the best and brightest in the solar industry.
AES Solar’s Managing Director, George Goudsmit attended the black-tie award ceremony in Birmingham. As a growing company based in the North East of Scotland facing some tough competition, we were unsure how the night would pan out. We were therefore delighted to be awarded third place, recognising our commitment to our work, our customers and our community.
This is a welcome addition to our trophy cabinet which has grown this past year alone. We were awarded Best in Energy Efficiency in House Design or Build at the Highlands and Islands Renewable Awards in April for our work on the winning Grand Designs House of the Year 2018 property. This was then joined by our Scottish Solar PV Installer and Contractor of the Year win in June, which led to our nomination and third place victory today.
Riding the Solar Coaster
Following the excitement of the night, MD George Goudsmit said: “It was an honour to accept this award on behalf of our team AES Solar. We would not be where we are today without their dedication and expertise. We always strive towards the highest quality of workmanship and customer service and this is reflected in this accolade.
“We are now officially in our 40th year of uninterrupted business. We have adapted from the first manufacturer of solar thermal collectors in Western Europe to the solar specialists we are today. These awards show that this longevity is not only well deserved but recognised nationwide.

Celebrating 40 Years in Style
Established in 1979, AES Solar have led the way in solar power technology. These four decades in business are being celebrated with a year full of special events. These celebrations will not only mark our birthday milestone but give back to the local area and community. Our most recent commemorative event saw a team of dedicated AES Solar friends and family complete 44 km-4-40 years for charity. When combined with these glowing award wins, our 40th year in business really will be one to remember.
