Scotland’s leading solar manufacturer and installation company has set up a new base in Edinburgh. AES Solar which was the first manufacturer of solar thermal collectors in Europe and trades all over the world opened its new office today, after securing more and more work in the central belt.
Jamie Di Sotto, AES Solar’s commercial director said it was the next step to ensure the company continuous growth: “AES Solar already do a significant amount of commercial work in the central belt and throughout Scotland. Opening an office to build our presence and customer base in the region was the next natural step in our growth.”
He added: “It makes operational sense to have a base in Edinburgh as we regularly travel from Forres to the central belt for industry or client meetings.”
Last June, AES Solar sponsored the Edinburgh-based PLEA 2017 conference which attracted over 700 delegates from 50 different countries. The company’s technical director Campbell MacLennan addressed the delegates about the power of solar energy and the importance of working side-by-side with architects and engineers.
AES Solar also has strong links with Heriot-Watt University and recently worked on an international research project with the university where panels made in their factory were tested in varying weather conditions – from the heat of Dubai to a deep freeze facility within the Edinburgh-based campus.
George Goudsmit, managing director of the company said: “This expansion into Edinburgh will only strengthen the relationships we have there. With 39 years of solar experience and a team of highly qualified engineers, we are perfectly established to provide both commercial and residential customers with the best solar experience.”
AES Solar has been involved in a number of landmark projects such as the first ever domestic Solar thermal/PV roof installation in the UK in 1995. More recently, it has carried out work on a project on the Royal Estate at Balmoral.
The company trades worldwide and has export customers in markets as diverse as Scandinavia, Africa and South America.
AES Solar will be based out of premises on East London Street.
