AES Solar is backing Moray Council’s warning to be aware of current scams offering upgrades, fixes and maintenance to solar panels when they’re not required.
The council’s Trading Standards department have reported that “…householders with solar panels are receiving cold calls offering to supply upgrades or accessories with misleading claims such as an inverter requires replacing, a component is broken or faulty, or that a battery will boost the performance of the system.”
Unfortunately, solar power is one of those industries where less honourable individuals do operate. After 38 years in business we’ve always maintained an ethical, honest way of working with our customers. We don’t cold call or put any pressure on customers.
Inverters do fail sometimes, and the customer would know about it by an error code on their display. It doesn’t take someone to knock on your door and tell you. Likewise battery systems can boost the performance of a solar panel system, but without a proper analysis of your energy needs, consumers should be careful not to entertain cold callers.
Our customers, or indeed anyone with solar panels, are welcome to contact us at any time for an honest opinion and detailed analysis.
