Home Energy Scotland Renewables Loan Scheme
The Home Energy Scotland Renewables Loan Scheme is funded by the Scottish Government. You can apply for up to two home renewables systems per home up to £17,500 in total, plus an energy storage system up to a maximum of £6,000 – read Home Energy Scotland Loan – in detail to find out more.

- Fund up to two home renewables systems for each home.
- Receive up to £17,500 in total over the two systems.
- Apply for an energy storage system up to £6,000.
- Loans are administered by Energy Saving Trust.
- Loans are subject to an administrative fee of 1.5% (max £150).
- Work must not commence before a loan offer has been made.
- Certain improvements will require the use of a certified installer.
- You will need to leave a rating and review of your installer.
Loans are available to owner-occupiers in Scotland for existing residential buildings, as well as buildings under construction where the property is already owned by the intended occupier. Interest-free loans are available covering up to 100% of the costs (max £5,000 for connecting to an approved district heating scheme. The scheme must be approved for support under the Home Energy Scotland renewables loan scheme. The fuel mix must include a minimum proportion of renewable energy sources. To be eligible for a HES loan, all installers and systems must be certified under the terms of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). A list of all MCS certified products and installers can be found on the Microgeneration Certification Scheme website.
